Nielsen Wins Norway's Audio Listening Contract
Nielsen has been awarded the contract to deliver official audience measurement for radio and other audio media in Norway, commencing on 1st January 2019.
Norway claims to be the first country in the world to have implemented full digital distribution for its national radio channels. The country's radio committee (NRK, Bauer, MTG) is focused on using existing and future technologies to analyse the service, which will include measuring and reporting all audio content from participating parties, live to time-shifted - including broadcast, online and podcast - independent of platform, device and where the listening takes place. The new service will use Nielsen's Portable People Meter (PPM) technology to document how many listeners each radio station has, how long they listened, who the listeners are and on what device they listened.
Åse Marit Linberg (pictured), Chairman of the Norwegian Radio Committee, comments: 'After a good tender process with strong competition, Nielsen had the best offer for the future radio and audio measurement. We look forward to working on developing our radio and audio content through thorough measurement and reporting from Nielsen'.
