Condé Nast Buys Lighthouse Datalab Team
US magazine publisher Condé Nast has bought data solutions specialist Lighthouse Datalab, bringing its team in-house and closing the acquired firm. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Launched in 2015 by data analytics specialist Sriram Subramanian (pictured), Lighthouse Datalab offered analytics consulting and software solutions that used mathematical disciplines across a number of industry sectors. The firm also helped identify new opportunities from analysis of data, structure proof-of-concepts with appropriate performance metrics; and design software solutions incorporating statistical and optimization models to uncover hidden value.
Following the deal, Subramanian has joined Condé Nast as Head of Data Science, his team becomes part of the company's Data Group, and Lighthouse Datalab has closed. Head of Data Strategy Karthic Bala commented: 'The acquisition of the Lighthouse Datalab team underscores Condé Nast's commitment to growing our data-science capabilities, which is providing tremendous value to our clients through both audience targeting and demonstrating the superior ROI marketers. Lighthouse has done industry-leading work in data analysis and visualization, AI and programming, and Condé Nast is leveraging their expertise and taking our industry-leading capabilities to the next level'.
The news follows Condé Nast's 2017 acquisition of social media data and marketing platform CitizenNet, which used machine learning, natural language processing and semantic analysis to interpret comments on key social media platforms, and then deliver content and ads to targeted individuals. CitizenNet has now been integrated into Condé Nast's ad targeting and optimisation solution Spire.
