Fizziology Debuts AI-Powered VelocityWatcher

In the US, social media research firm Fizziology has launched a real-time monitor called VelocityWatcher, which uses artificial intelligence to detect sudden changes in social media conversation around a brand, competitor or category - without reliance on hashtags.

Ben CarlsonAcquired by entertainment research firm MarketCast last year, Fizziology offers proprietary software to convert social media opinions into trackable data and insights across areas such as casting analysis, marketing performance measurement, and fan identification. The new VelocityWatcher tool monitors conversations taking place outside owned social media channels, including complaints, humorous perspectives, and crises that don't appear as notifications or in automated dashboards.

Ben Carlson (pictured), the firm's co-founder and co-President, explains: 'Most people don't tag the brand, sports team, person or company they are talking about in social media. In fact, we find that 70% of social conversations take place without using a brand's handle or official hashtag. We created VelocityWatcher so that clients can be alerted to changes in the entire social media conversation beyond what they are currently seeing through owned social accounts'.
