Discovery's Voigt Launches Media Research Firm BLINQ
In London, former Discovery Communications Research Director Thomas Voigt has set up a media research and data analysis firm called BLINQ Consulting.
Voigt (pictued) spent the past twelve years at entertainment firm Discovery Communications, latterly as Research Director CEEMEA, developing and implementing research strategies, including subscriber growth analysis and product development testing, and identifying consumer, advertising and content trends. Earlier, he was the firm's International Research Director, Channels and Digital Media, and its Director Research, Insights & Innovation, Germany. Prior to this, he worked for Sky as Senior Manager Market Intelligence, and held various roles at Nielsen Media Research and GfK.
BLINQ will focus on understanding consumer behaviour in changing media markets worldwide, targeting TV companies with the aim of connecting in-house data to create insights and provide business recommendations. Commenting on the launch, Voigt said: 'As consumer researchers we shall not neglect the human intelligence factor of our work - especially in times of more automation. BLINQ closes the gap and links data islands. We look at TV ratings, usage behaviour on non-linear platforms, brand health insights and have developed KPI's that clearly present information enabling quick decision-making'.
