Accenture Buys Big Data and AI Firm Kogentix
Global management consultancy Accenture has acquired big data and artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Kogentix, boosting its ability to help clients identify revenue growth and cost reduction opportunities across the enterprise. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2015, Kogentix offers a range of applications to help existing technologies - such as Hadoop, Spark and Python - analyze larger volumes of data with more speed. The firm has a team of nearly 220 big data engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers. Headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, it also has offices in Pleasanton, CA; Hyderabad and Bangalore in India; and in Singapore and Jakarta.
The company's team will join Accenture's Applied Intelligence division, which employs more than 6,000 data scientists, data engineers and AI professionals; and its co-founders, CEO Boyd Davis (pictured right), COO Sanjay Gogia, CTO Jai Malhotra and President Krishna Nimmagadda will continue to play key roles in leading the business.
Narendra Mulani (pictured left), Chief Analytics Officer, Accenture Applied Intelligence, says the addition of Kogentix's assets and team strengthens his division's ability to help clients realize the value of open source analytics platforms and embed new intelligence at the core of their businesses. Davis adds: 'The opportunity to leverage data for better business outcomes has never been this exciting. Becoming part of Accenture Applied Intelligence will allow us to seize a greater share of this market. We're excited by the scale and scope of projects that will open up to us, as well as the long-term career and growth opportunities for our team'.
