Kauffman to Step Down as MDC Chairman and CEO

Scott Kauffman, Chairman and CEO of marcoms group MDC Partners, is stepping down from his role as soon as a successor is named. He will continue as a member of the Board of Directors.

The New York-based firm uses technology, data analytics, insights and strategic consulting solutions, to deliver business growth and return on marketing investment for more than 1,700 clients worldwide. It operates a Consumer Insights Group to offer data and analytics capabilities to other group companies, and over the years has invested in a number of market research and analytics firms. These have included language and communications research specialist Lunt Global, data analytics business kenna, and qualitative research firm and focus group facility Ecker & Associates.

Kauffman (pictured) joined MDC Partners' Board in 2006, and has been running the company since 2015, when founder Miles Nadal was forced to repay nearly $12.5m in expenses, following an investigation by the SEC. Prior to joining the Board, Kauffman co-founded and served as President & CEO of education services company New Engineering University. He began his career in advertising as a media planner for Benton & Bowles, and later served in leadership roles at a number of emerging technology companies, including working as Chairman / CEO of AdKnowledge, Coremetrics and Lotame, and he was COO of Blue Lithium at the time of its sale to Yahoo!
