Nielsen's SuperData Debuts Gaming Measure
Nielsen-owned games industry researcher SuperData has launched Arena, a reporting tool measuring audiences for online gaming video content and esports platforms and services.
Acquired by Nielsen last month and headquartered in New York, SuperData reports on digital games, gaming video content, and virtual/augmented reality across mobile, PC online, console and other digital platforms. Its custom and syndicated data solutions track the consumption of games-as-media, including esports and gaming streaming content on digital media platforms.
The new SuperData Arena dashboard offers games publishers, brands and sponsors in-depth audience metrics and insights into online gaming video and streaming. The tool determines the value of top games, industry influencers, popular streaming content, game channels and audiences by tracking a range of metrics, including the number of hours streamed and watched, average concurrent viewers and channel followers across Twitch, YouTube and other streaming games sources.
The dashboard can be used to inform sponsorship decisions alongside the firm's proprietary Influencer Value Index, which allows clients to track video games content retention, engagement, magnitude and overall value to determine sponsorship ROI. Joost van Dreunen (pictured), SuperData co-founder, says the dashboard provides a holistic view of how players and fans are consuming and engaging with streaming content across the world's most popular channels and platforms.
