Intouch to Mystery Shop Cannabis Compliance
In Canada, CEM products and services provider Intouch Insight has developed a mystery shopping program to help cannabis retailers monitor and enforce compliance with sales laws and regulations.
With cannabis now legal in Canada and nine states in the US, retailers are responsible for adhering to the different laws and regulations around how it can be distributed and sold. Analysts at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) estimate that the legal cannabis market in Canada will reach $6.5 billion by 2020, while government forecasts suggest as many 450,000 customers a day.
The new mystery shopping program has been designed to help online and brick and mortar retailers support employee knowledge and service standards, enforce age verification, and ensure stores are adhering to product advertising and accessibility policies. Cameron Watt (pictured), President & CEO, comments: 'Intouch has decades of experience working with responsible retailers helping them ensure compliance around alcohol and tobacco sale restrictions. Looking to the future, we see cannabis compliance being equally as important, which is why we have developed program options to help protect at risk age groups and ensure sellers remain on the right side of the regulations'.
