Ethics Appointment at VNU
VNU, the parent company of ACNielsen and Nielsen Media Research, has appointed Maarten Schikker to the new position of Vice President Corporate Sustainability. Schikker's brief will be to develop a sustainability strategy for the company, demonstrating its commitment to the increasingly prominent notion of corporate social responsibility (see various recent DRNO articles).
The company defines corporate social responsibility as 'achieving commercial success in ways that honor ethical values and respect people, communities, and the natural environment'. The strategy developed by Schikker, who previously held several senior positions in VNU's Corporate Communications department, should lead to measuring and reporting of VNU's social, environmental and economic performance.
Schikker will report to Rob de Meel, Senior Vice President Corporate Communications / Investor Relations.
