Research Partnership Launches Diabetes Report
Healthcare specialist Research Partnership has launched a report called Living with Diabetes (LATAM), and says it intends to expand the survey to the US, Europe and Asia.
The London-based firm, which also has offices in Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Lyon, specialises in supplying primary qual and quant market research and consulting services to the sector. In addition, its RP Therapy Watch service collects data from an online community of specialist physicians across the globe, allowing clients to monitor their market and that of their competitors in real time.
The LATAM study is based on 30-minute quant online and qual telephone interviews with Type 2 (T2D) patients - 116 in Brazil and 105 in Mexico. Intended to help pharmaceutical companies develop diabetes-related products in this region, the study provides clients with an understanding of how patients come to be diagnosed with diabetes and how it impacts their day-to-day lives physically, emotionally and socially. The report also explores patient attitudes and perceptions towards treatment, and the healthcare professionals managing their condition, while identifying the types of support and education patients need at key stages of their journey.
Living with Diabetes is just one in a series of reports offering insight into the chronic disease patient journey - from pre-diagnosis to stabilisation. Head of Living With Mariel Metcalfe (pictured) comments: 'With an increase in prevalence to 14% of the population in Mexico and 9% of the population in Brazil, diabetes is now one of the leading causes of mortality and disability in Latin America. This report provides comprehensive, quantitative insights into patient behaviours, perceptions and needs, as well as their feelings at key stages of their journey living with Type 2 Diabetes'.
