Cision Buys Social Media Specialist Falcon.io

PR firm Cision has announced the acquisition of social media insights and management company Falcon.io.

Falcon.io provides services for publishing, engagement, listening, advertising and measurement of social media activity, via a single platform, and has offices in New York, Melbourne, Berlin, Copenhagen, Sofia and Budapest.

Cision, which boasts more than 4,000 employees in 19 countries, says the buy will help it to 'move beyond' the 'tactical' approach to PR in which it has been a leading player, and 'drive the future of earned media management'. Falcon's service will continue to be offered via a stand-alone social media platform, but will also be integrated with Cision's 'Communications Cloud', allowing marketing and comms professionals to fully integrate their campaigns across owned, earned and paid media.

Cision CEO Kevin Akeroyd says Falcon is 'an industry leader in Europe and fast-emerging in the US for social media marketing'. He adds: 'Falcon.io will round out our vision for holistic earned media management that includes not only engagement on broadcast, print, and open web/mobile media channels, but social media as well'.
