MRS to Launch LGBTQ+ Research Industry Network
In the UK, the Market Research Society (MRS) is launching a network called #MRSpride, bringing together LGBTQ+ researchers across the sector.
#MRSpride will provide a platform for LGBTQ+ research content - from consumer insight to methodological best practice - as well as to promote leaders who will inspire junior talent in the sector. Michael Brown (pictured), Chair of #MRSpride and Head of Insight at UM, says the network will form a steering group of LGBTQ+ research professionals and allies, with forthcoming initiatives possibly including the formation of an online community, mentoring and a UK event roadshow.
The inaugural meeting, to be held on 30th May, will include contributions from industry figures Joshua Graff, VP of LinkedIn EMEA and LATAM; Jan Gooding, Chair of Stonewall and President of MRS; and Alison Camps, Deputy Chairman of Quadrangle and co-Chair of Pride in London. Hosted by IPG Mediabrands at offices in Clerkenwell, the event will be open to all MRS members, Company Partners and non-members, and members are encouraged to extend the invitation to junior colleagues who might find the event interesting.
According to Brown, 'Our sector has a unique responsibility to discover, understand and amplify the voices within society. This duty is even more pressing towards minority groups, whose thoughts are less considered in mainstream discourse'.
