Gracenote Video Data Rolls Out in Middle East
Nielsen's music, video and sports tech company Gracenote is launching its Global Video Data offering in the Middle East.
Network operators and broadcasters use the solution to engage viewers and drive 'tune-in' through schedules, in-depth program guides, descriptions and recommendations. TV content and advanced TV technologies firm E-Vision, part of Etisalat, is an early adopter in the region, where the service provides TV schedules for 850+ channels, multi-language Arabic & English descriptive data for TV shows and movies, and rich imagery powering guides for Linear TV, VoD and OTT.
Gracenote was acquired by Nielsen in December 2016 from Tribune Media Company, in a $560m cash deal - three years after Tribune acquired it from Sony. Geet Lulla (pictured), the firm's MD India, Middle East and Southeast Asia, comments: 'Operators and broadcasters in the Middle East are looking to use deep descriptive metadata and imagery to create entirely new viewer experiences centered on engagement and interactivity. Gracenote's new Global Video Data offering is the key enabler of next-generation content search, discovery and navigation that will help TV operators and broadcasters in the region engage consumers and deliver breakthrough user experiences'.
