Johnson & Johnson Scraps CMO Role
Alison Lewis is leaving her post as Chief Marketing Officer of consumer manufacturing giant Johnson & Johnson, as part of a business shake-up which will see the role scrapped altogether.
Lewis (pictured) became the group's first-ever CMO nearly six years ago, when she became responsible for brands such as Neutrogena and Listerine, in addition to global marketing and innovation initiatives. Earlier, she was US CMO at The Coca-Cola Company, where she spent more than eighteen years, and she worked for Kraft Foods in Canada. She will leave her current position in mid-July and her next career move is not yet known.
Johnson & Johnson says the CMO role has now been axed as part of a wider 'streamlining' of the business, with Lewis' former responsibilities to be split between 'leaders within the Consumer organization'. In a statement, a company spokesperson said: 'To reach the more than one billion people who use our products every day, we have established a new business model that streamlines priorities, allows us to operate more efficiently and increases our investment in categories that offer high potential for growth and where we can make a positive impact on consumers' lives'.
