Aegis Name 'To Go' as Dentsu Restructures
Marcoms giant Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) is planning to drop the 'Aegis' part of its name and is continuing to streamline its Asia Pacific operations, reports suggest.
The company has made dozens of insights and analytics acquisitions since Japanese ad giant Dentsu acquired British media conglomerate and former Synovate owner Aegis for £3.16bn in 2013. According to Campaign magazine, the latest move is part of the group's 'one Dentsu' strategy, and from 1st Jan 2020 the group 'will sit alongside Dentsu Inc. rather than as a subsidiary'.
The publication also said DAN saw a fresh round of redundancies in its Singapore office last week, as part of a broader restructure, with former Vizeum APAC CEO Duncan Pointer, APAC President of Programmatic Services Sonal Patel, and APAC Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer Arvind Sethumadhavan among those reportedly leaving the business.
Other research published today indicates that Dentsu led the field for acquisitions by holding companies, in the first half of 2019. Last week, DAN announced it had acquired a majority stake in India-based data and analytics company Ugam, which will be added to its performance marketing division Merkle.
