GlobalWebIndex Creates Chief Commercial Officer Role
London-based audience insights company GlobalWebIndex has hired former Groupon exec James Scott for a newly created position, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
GlobalWebIndex, which maintains a global panel of more than 22 million connected consumers and provides audience profiling data across 45 countries, raised $40m last year in its first round of funding. The company has offices in New York and Los Angeles and in the past year has expanded its North American headcount from 19 to 39.
Scott joins from marketing tech business Fospha, where as CCO he was responsible for scaling the sales function, go-to-market strategy, pricing model, and launching new markets. Prior to this, he worked for fintech business Vendigo Finance as CEO and Head of Sales; and online marketplace Groupon as MD, UK & IE, running a team of 450. He began his career with a seven-year stint as a trader at UBS. He also co-founded home services sector sales and marketing company PGLC, which was sold to a competitor in 2011.
In his new role, Scott will be responsible for the commercial strategy and development of sales, account growth and customer service activities. CEO Tom Smith comments: 'James brings with him an arsenal of experience in bootstrapping, fundraising, hyper-growth and managing the business through the entire scale-up life cycle'.
