S&P Global Platts Buys Energy MR Firm Canadian Enerdata
London-based energy and commodities information provider S&P Global Platts has acquired energy market research and forecasting firm Canadian Enerdata, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1984, Canadian Enerdata provides benchmark prices, news and analysis on the country's natural gas market. The firm conducts North American natural gas pricing surveys, and calculates and publishes various price indices in publications including the Canadian Gas Price Reporter.
The deal allows S&P Global Platts to expand its North American services, providing information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets. Richard Zarzeczny, founder and President of Canadian Enerdata, says the buy will expand the company's own offering to clients, who he says will benefit from Platts range of pricing, news and analytics offerings.
Martin Fraenkel (pictured), President of S&P Global Platts, adds: 'Canadian Enerdata is a service of record for Canada's natural gas pricing and will extend S&P Global Platts market insight in Canada, building on our strong benchmark position in the US market'.
