Qual Text Analysis Tool Quirkos Moves to the Cloud
In Edinburgh, UK, qualitative text analysis software firm Quirkos has launched a new cloud service helping universities and large organisations to embrace the SaaS model, and market research organisations to move to flexible working.
Developed by a team of British qualitative researchers from the academic and market research sectors, Quirkos enables users to gain insight from their unstructured qualitative data. The tool is designed to help qual researchers sort, code, visualise and identify trends and insights in unstructured text data - including transcripts from interviews, focus groups, feedback, policy documents and academic literature.
After more than two years in development and extensive beta testing, the Quirkos Cloud platform is now available to subscribers on a quarterly and annual basis. Data is instantly synchronised and automatically backed up, with multiple redundancies, and compliance with all applicable security and data protection safeguards. The cloud platform will also allow for the development of new functionality in future updates, including automatic transcription, live collaboration and machine learning tools.
Company founder Daniel Turner (pictured) explains: 'Our challenge moving to the cloud has been implementing data protection requirements for users working with confidential qualitative data, while making access more flexible and co-operative. We also wanted to keep the intuitive colourful interface that is one of the top reasons people use Quirkos. A cloud platform for analysing qualitative data at home or in the office has been a desire for customers for many years'.
