Conjoint.ly in MR Industry Carbon Offsetting 'First'
Product and pricing decisions analytics company Conjoint.ly has launched an ecological initiative to help offset carbon emissions with every automated service it provides to its clients. Conjoint.ly claims to be the first market research agency to tackle this.
Founded in 2016, Sydney-based Conjoint.ly focuses on improving product and pricing research for insights, product and marketing managers. The company says the use of computing power, especially in computationally heavy analytics done through the Conjoint.ly platform, air conditioning of office spaces, and flights to industry conferences, all contribute to the carbon footprint.
From the beginning of this month, clients receive a carbon offsetting confirmation with every purchase they make on the Conjoint.ly platform. Carbon offsetting is actioned through the purchase of RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates) issued by wind farms and other offset producers, with the details of RECs available to clients through a confirmation e-mail.
Founder Nik Samoylov (pictured) believes that not knowing carbon emission amounts is no excuse for market research companies to shy away from carbon offsetting, and his team hopes that this move will set a new trend for the MR industry globally. 'Measuring the amount of carbon tied to every purchase on Conjoint.ly is hard. But we cut through analysis paralysis and decided to launch the scheme ASAP'. He adds: 'We will come back to refresh carbon emission calculations when we have gathered more data'.
