Funding for Language Analyst Relative Insight
UK-based language analysis and comparative text analytics platform Relative Insight has raised $5m in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to open its first US office, in New York City.
From its HQ in Lancaster and an office in London, Relative Insight helps B2B and B2C companies understand the differences in the ways their audiences talk through comparative linguistics. The platform does this by analysing unstructured and undefined data sets such as customer feedback, social media, online product ratings and reviews, web page copy and surveys. Founded in 2012, the platform's technology was developed through a ten-year R&D project with Lancaster University, and is now used to help clients differentiate brand language from that used by competitors, monitor the effect of ad campaigns on users' opinions, and target the right message in the right language tone to the most appropriate customer group.
New funding has been led by Maven Capital Partners and will be used to continue development of the firm's AI platform. CEO Ben Hookway (pictured) comments: 'With our platform we've seen huge success in helping companies quickly and accurately gain value from their existing data and provide analysis that results in significant business insights - a process that historically has been done manually. Expanding into the US market is the next logical step for the growth of our business'.
