WiFi Analytics Firm Purple Buys US Wayfinding Firm
Manchester, UK-headquartered consumer targeting firm Purple WiFi has acquired Ohio, US-based indoor navigation specialist LogicJunction, whose 'wayfinding' technology provides the ability to guide people through a physical environment such as shopping centres, supermarkets and hospitals.
LogicJunction's technology utilises WiFi, Bluetooth and the geomagnetic force of the earth. Purple says the deal will enable it to offer indoor navigation and location-based systems combined with data analytics. In addition, LogicJunction will enhance Purple's WiFi platform, through which businesses can monitor a customers' shopping patterns and habits, allowing them to communicate with targeted messaging, while providing real-time analytics.
The acquisition is a majority stock deal, with the existing management team and employees joining the Purple team. Gavin Wheeldon (pictured), CEO of Purple, comments: 'LogicJunction's team and technology will complement Purple's offering and take us further on the journey in creating intelligent spaces, as well as growing both our UK, European and US presence.
