Funds for Swiss In-Store Behaviour Specialist Advertima
Start-up Advertima, which uses AI to customize in-store experiences, has closed a EUR 15m ($17.3m) funding round, earmarked for further development of its tracking platform.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Advertima uses computer vision and machine learning to analyse people's movement and interpret their behaviour in the real world, in real-time - defining their limbs and the position of their head to assess what they are doing. The technology is privacy-focused, using no facial recognition or other biometrics and storing no images or videos in its in-store visual sensors. Smart signage products linked to this mean the firm can offer in-depth targeting and performance reports alongside audience analytics; while its 'Autonomous Store' solution allows customers to enter a store using a credit card and shop '24/7'.
Chief Executive Iman Nahvi (pictured) says the new funding will add to another EUR 10m ($11.5m) of the firm's own capital to be invested in the upgrade.
