GroundTruth Names New CEO
In New York, location data specialist GroundTruth has promoted Stephen McCarthy to the role of Chief Executive Officer, replacing co-founder Sunil Kumar, who now serves as a Board Advisor to the firm.
GroundTruth uses current and past location data from mobiles to track in-store visits and target / time promotions. The firm activates this data through a suite of performance products and services, via its self-serve advertising platform, through managed services, and partnerships.
McCarthy (pictured) joined a decade ago, having previously worked in the field of private equity, overseeing finance, accounting and operations for fund-portfolio companies. During this time, he worked for tech companies including Exigen Group as Chief Accounting Officer, MySQL as VP of Finance, and Vitria Technology as Corporate Controller, and earlier, he held roles at Exodus Communications and Centura Software/Gupta.
In his new position, McCarthy will be responsible for leading the development and execution of short- and long-term business strategies, and managing the overall operations of the company. Mike Perlis, Chairman of the GroundTruth Board comments: 'For the last ten years, Steve has been an instrumental part of the rapid development and growth of GroundTruth and the adoption of location-based advertising technology. With his experience and industry acumen, we are confident that we will continue on our path of accelerated growth and innovation as an industry leader in location technology.'
