Ascent Buys Data Science Firm Mango Solutions
In the UK, software strategy and development firm Ascent has acquired data science consulting business Mango Solutions. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the takeover is expected to add 65 employees and approximately £5m in annual revenues to Ascent.
Founded in 2002 by Richard Pugh (pictured), Chief Data Scientist, and Matthew Aldridge, CEO, Mango Solutions helps clients use data science and advanced analytics to gain insight into their data, lower costs and optimize performance. The firm also offers a range of data analytics approaches - including R, Python and AI/ML projects, and statistical modelling - and provides a range of training and upskilling programmes.
Prior to the acquisition both companies were close business partners, and the combined business will now employ more than 340 people. Pugh, who will continue in this role at Ascent, comments: 'The most exciting thing about joining Ascent is that we will see our vision and expertise become accessible to so many more businesses so much sooner. What was once the domain of only the largest enterprises is now accessible to the mid and upper-mid market - at a time when demand for insight and intelligence is surging. Ascent is the accelerant to take Mango's capability and leadership in data science to this broader market'.
