Skyflow Gets Funds for Data Protection Platform
Palo Alto-based privacy specialist Skyflow has raised $17.5m in a Series A round of funding, following a $7.5m seed round back in May. The new funding will be used to build vertical-specific variations of its product, and to hire new staff.
Launched last year by former Salesforce execs Anshu Sharma and Prakash Khot (pictured), Skyflow offers a repository, or vault, accessible via an API, through which companies can manage, access, and govern sensitive customer data. Security teams use it to understand how data is being used and stored, app developers can access the data to build software tools, and CTOs and CDOs can use it to avoid worries about a data breach.
New funding has been led by Canvas Ventures, and follows Foundation Capital's seed funding, bringing the total raised to date to $25m. Khot comments: 'We're proud of what we've built - a data vault with an elegant API, that allows developers to quickly build applications and workflows without worrying about data security, privacy, or compliance. We have helped some amazing start-ups get to market faster. And, we are helping some very large institutions trying to move their stack to the public cloud that have been inhibited by data privacy concerns'.
