BBC's Barker Joins The Co-Op as Head of CX and CRM
In the UK, retail association The Co-Op has appointed former BBC exec Phil Barker as Head of Customer Experience (CX) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), as it expands its Data and Loyalty teams.
Owned by millions of UK consumers, the business operates 2,600 food stores and more than 1,000 funeral homes, and provides products to more than 5,100 other stores. Barker (pictured) joins after six years at the BBC, where he served as CRM lead, responsible for customer relationship strategy and digital engagement across all channels and services. Prior to this he was Head of CRM and Listener Data at Global Radio, and Head of CRM at FT.com, and earlier he held senior roles at Orange UK, e-Dialog, Alchemy Worx and Oddbins.
In his new position, Barker will lead efforts to achieve data-driven value for members, customers and communities, following the Co-op's revamp of its membership programme and launch of its membership app to 4.3 million people last year. Charlotte Lock, Director of Data and Loyalty, comments: 'We're thrilled Phil is joining the team as his passion for insight and creativity really stood out coupled with a fantastic track record of leading teams to deliver rewarding customer journeys'.
