YouGov Creates APAC Sports Advisor Role in Tokyo
YouGov has hired Hideyuki (Andy) Hata for a newly created role, Senior Strategic Advisor, YouGov Sport, tasked with establishing the business's commercial operations in Tokyo.
Hata (pictured) joins after more than two years serving as President of global sports media company ONE Championship, prior to which he worked for Nielsen Sports as President North Asia, responsible for business activity in Japan, South Korea and Mainland China. He previously led the Nielsen Sports Japan team for more than five years, having initially worked for sports broadcast measurement business Repucom, which was acquired by Nielsen in 2016. In addition, he is a special advisor to the J League (Japan Professional Football League).
In his new role, Hata will help build YouGov's presence in Japan and the wider region, following the firm's affiliate partnership with the Nippon Research Center. His immediate focus will be on the Tokyo Olympics and the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on the region.
Hata will report to YouGov Sport's Chief Revenue Officer Scott Horowitz, who comments: 'Given his experience in sports marketing and research, there is no one better than Andy to lead our expansion in the region. With our success with sports data in Asia Pacific, more specifically Australia, we know there is a big gap in the marketplace for our products and services'.
