IBM Buys Big Data Firm Bluetab
IBM has acquired big data analytics specialist Bluetab Solutions group, and will bring it into its Data Services Consulting practice. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Founded in Madrid in 2006 by Tom Uhart and José Luis López, Bluetab offers data strategy, management, analytics and cloud services to clients in banking, telecoms, energy and utilities sectors in Spain, Mexico, Peru and Colombia. The company's team includes more than 700 data experts.
IBM says the buy will extend its own portfolio of data and hybrid cloud consulting services in Europe and Latin America. Mark Foster, SVP, IBM Services and Global Business Services, comments: 'The outside-in digital transformation of the past is giving way to the inside-out potential of using company-owned data with AI and automation to generate business value and create intelligent workflows. Our acquisition of Bluetab will fuel migration to the cloud and help our clients to realize even more value from their mission-critical data'.
