Media Giant Gannett Names First Chief Data Officer
In the US, media holding company Gannett has hired Nate Rackiewicz for the newly created role of Chief Data Officer.
Gannett's current portfolio of media assets includes USA TODAY, local media organizations in 46 states in the US, and Newsquest, a wholly owned subsidiary operating in the UK with more than 120 local news media brands. The group also owns the digital marketing services companies ReachLocal, UpCurve and WordStream, which are marketed under the LOCALiQ brand; and it runs media-owned events business USA TODAY NETWORK Ventures.
Rackiewicz (pictured) joins with more than two decades of experience in data science and advanced analytics. Most recently, he worked at Take-Two Interactive as Head of Analytics, building a global Data Science and Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence. He previously served as VP of Consumer Data and Analytics at A+E Networks, where he established a center of excellence for consumer-focused data science and advanced analytics, and analyzed over 40,000 industry-wide cable episodic airings; and he held multiple leadership roles at cable television company HBO over nearly two decades.
In the newly created position, Rackiewicz will lead a global team that will implement the company's enterprise-wide customer identity, data and growth analytics, as well as data science and modeling capabilities. He will report to Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Mayur Gupta, who comments: 'We are excited to welcome Nate to lead our expansive intelligence ecosystem across the company and enhance Gannett's data-driven culture and mindset.
