Idox Buys Location Intelligence Firm thinkWhere
Information management software firm ldox has acquired Scottish based geospatial information services (GIS) technology and data sharing business thinkWhere for an undisclosed sum. The firm was previously equally owned by Falkirk and Stirling Councils.
Stirling-based thinkWhere has developed a suite of products and services that it claims transform the way organisations use geographic data. Its flagship data platform, groundMapper, provides a framework for gathering, managing and analysing data about the physical world, allowing clients to visualise special data to analyse relationships and interactions. The firm combines clients' in-house data with hundreds of public datasets - including Ordnance Survey feeds - to provide a single source of location data.
David Meaden (pictured), CEO of Idox comments: 'This exciting acquisition strengthens our GIS, mapping and data capabilities. Building on our recent acquisition of (local authority data firm) Aligned Assets, thinkWhere will create more opportunities to provide customers with smarter data and better integration to simplify and improve their operations'.
