WPP's Essence Names Three VPs in India
In India, WPP's data and measurement-driven media agency Essence has appointed Bharati Joshi as Vice President, Product; Kunal Danda as VP, Client Services, heading the agency's Mumbai office; and Vinish Mathews as VP, Client Services, leading the agency's partnership with Google.
Part of WPP's media investment company GroupM, Essence combines data science, media and customer experience skills to help clients build connections between brands and consumers. Last year, the business launched a service called Data Health Check consulting, to help brands develop their audience data strategies.
Based in Bengaluru, Joshi will lead the agency's product offering, after working at Initiative as Assistant Vice President, Strategy and Insights and holding practice and client leadership positions at GroupM's Wavemaker and Maxus, helping develop data and measurement tools. Danda joins with more than two decades of media and marketing experience in India and the Middle East, working at agencies such as OMD, Edelman and Digitas, and organisations such as DBS Bank, Energy Central and Arab Insurance Group, and having most recently served as Principal Partner at Mindshare in Mumbai.
With more than eighteen years of industry experience in China and India, Mathews joins to lead the Google partnership in India and Southeast Asia, after serving as MD of Mindshare, overseeing teams across Beijing and Shanghai. All three will report to Sonali Malaviya, MD, India, who comments: 'Bharati, Kunal and Vinish's appointments are key in strengthening Essence's India leadership team. I am delighted that we are able to attract exceptional talent who share and are excited about our vision to reimagine what is possible for India.'
