New Asian CEO for Wipro
Global IT, consulting and business process services company Wipro has appointed former Capgemini Chief Exec Anis Chenchah as its new CEO for APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa). He replaces N S Bala, who has resigned for 'personal reasons'.
With more than 220,000 employees worldwide, Wipro combines expertise in cognitive computing, hyper-automation, robotics, cloud, analytics and emerging technologies to help clients optimise their business for the digital world. The group acquired a $9.9m minority stake in US retail analytics and marketing solutions firm Harte Hanks in 2018, and two years later acquired full service digital customer experience company Rational Interaction - it also has numerous other investments in big data, IoT and predictive analytics.
Chenchah brings more than two decades of experience, most recently as Global CEO of Capgemini Business Services, and earlier in leadership roles in Capgemini Financial Services across Europe and the Middle East. He holds a Master's degree in Engineering from ENSISA in France.
Wipro CEO and MD Thierry Delaporte said: 'I warmly welcome Anis to Wipro. His appointment is a bold indication of our ambition for exponential growth and leadership in APMEA as we tap into its promising future. With his successful track record of driving high growth in diverse contexts, managing complex transformations and building high-performance teams, Anis is well-positioned to accelerate our success in this strategic market'. The company also thanked Bala, who had held the role for a year but worked for the company for three decades, for the 'strong foundation' in APMEA and for his 'unstinting contributions' to the group. Bala is moving back to the US.
