Marketing Conference Launch
ESOMAR and EMAC (European Marketing Academy) are to co-host a Marketing Conference on October 10-12 in Warsaw, Poland. Under the theme 'Where Science Meets Practice', topics will include brand management, understanding consumers, advanced uses of the Internet, and research in emerging markets.
According to Gerda Feunekes, programme committee chair and Consumer Understanding Manager, Unilever Health Institute, The Netherlands, 'Academics in marketing and market research sciences seem to strongly focus their research on quantitative techniques. seminars and conferences where the two worlds meet are very important to forge ties and create networks for academics and practitioners to meet and exchange information'.Suzanne C. Beckmann, programme committee member and Professor of International Strategic Management, Copenhagen Business School, says the programme will focus particularly on 'areas where accelerating changes in the business environment outpace our structural understanding. These are areas where both marketing scientists and practitioners could benefit from exchanging knowledge to deliver deeper understanding'.
Speakers at the conference, which takes place at the Westin Warsaw Hotel, include Patrick Barwise, Director of the Centre for Marketing at the London Business School and author of, 'Simply Better: Winning and keeping customers by delivering what matters most'. Papers will also be given by universities and business schools including Delft University of Technology, Copenhagen Business School, the Australian Graduate School of Management, Groningen University and the University of Rouen; and companies including MTV Networks, McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, Research International Asia and ACNielsen.
