Walmart to Buy Volt Systems for Store Insights
US-based retail chain store group Walmart is acquiring tech company Volt Systems, whose app delivers current store-level data, analytics and shelf intelligence to enable suppliers to plan, forecast and optimize product assortment. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
St Louis, Missouri-based Volt Systems has developed a tool called On Display, which provides remote, real-time display monitoring that can determine if products are in stock. In addition, the firm's 'Engage' solution is a partner relationship management technology that qualifies, engages, and connects retailers with their vendor partners, while its 'Live Wire' connects shoppers with answers from real product experts.
Walmart said that through Volt System's app, customers receive a 'more seamless omni-shopping experience', with reduced friction due to out-of-stocks. 'The deal affirms Walmart's continued investment in technology and innovation that enables us to better anticipate customer demand. We are acquiring Volt Systems outright, including the company, talent, technology, and customer agreements,' Walmart added.
