French Firm AB Tasty Buys in Germany
Paris-based experience optimization company AB Tasty has acquired Epoq internet services GmbH, an AI-driven recommendation and smart search solution headquartered in Ettlingen, Germany.
AB Tasty, founded in 2013, helps client to validate ideas through 'controlled experimentation', and personalize experiences to maximise impact and minimise risk. Solutions named AB Tasty and Flagship help clients to align the activities and goals of their marketing, product and engineering teams to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Its new acquisition, Epoq, provides a software suite to create unique shopping experiences along the customer journey, giving consumers 'orientation', advice and inspiration when shopping online, based on analysis of their click-and-buy behaviour; and personalised email contact afterwards. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
AB Tasty, which raised $40m in a Series C funding round two years ago, says Epoq will complement its client-side and server-side experimentation and personalization solutions. 'The Epoq team is the perfect addition to AB Tasty' says the latter's CEO and co-founder Alix de Sagazan (pictured top), 'bringing expertise, insights and sophisticated products'. Co-founder Remi Aubert (below) adds: 'People using e-commerce site search expect the same level of precision as they do from Google. With Epoq, we are easing our clients' lives, accelerating the delivery of tailored experiences and driving profitability'.
Epoq CEO and co-founder Thorsten Mühling comments: 'Joining forces with AB Tasty makes us more formidable players in the market. This is a great opportunity for Epoq to add more value along the consumer journey - not just in Germany, but on a global scale'.
The combined company now boasts more than 1,100 clients and 320 employees, with 13 offices in key markets including France, Germany, the UK, the US and APAC.
