Proactive Worldwide Co-founder Retires
Gary Maag, CEO of market intelligence company Proactive Worldwide (PWW), has retired from the company he co-founded 27 years ago with David Kalinowski.
Headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, PWW began in 1995 as a two-person operation, and now has delivery teams in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The firm uses competitive, market and customer intelligence to help companies predict market shifts, examine competitors, suppliers, customers and regulatory issues. The firm says this gives a more complete picture of the decision-making environment, while uncovering hidden opportunities and key threats.
During his time with the company, Maag oversaw PWW's global business development and marketing activities, while also serving as an adjunct professor at the Center for Knowledge Management at Dominican University in Illinois, where he helped develop the graduate-level course on competitive intelligence (CI). Last year, Maag and Kalinowski published The CI-Driven CEO: A Little Leadership Story About a Powerful Competitive Intelligence Idea.
Maag issued a statement thanking clients, industry partners and the team, and Kalinowski added: 'It's been my privilege and honor to spend the better part of my career alongside Gary, to build a thriving company with him, and to bring CI to the masses. Without him, we would not be where we are today, a global company well-positioned to continue helping clients gain a competitive edge through CI'.
