New CEO for Medallia as Stretch Retires

Customer and employee experience specialist Medallia has appointed Joe Tyrrell as CEO, replacing Leslie Stretch who is retiring and transitioning into an advisory role at the company.

Tyrrell (pictured) brings more than thirty years' experience helping businesses introduce new innovations in automation, artificial intelligence and data-driven workflows, with a focus on finance and technology sectors. He joins from ICE Mortgage Technology, where he was President, leading three wholly-owned subsidiaries of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., including mortgage processing software giant Ellie Mae. He joined Ellie Mae in 2002 and served in roles including SVP and then EVP of Corporate Strategy, and SVP of Client Management and Business Development, before being promoted to COO - in this last role he oversaw technology, product strategy, product management, and business and corporate development. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from St. Mary's College.

Stretch joined as Medallia's CEO in August 2018 after a decade as President and CEO of enterprise software and SaaS company CallidusCloud, culminating in its sale for $2.5 billion - and worked earlier at Sun Microsystems and Oracle Corporation. He has led Medallia through an IPO and the firm's 2021 sale for $6.4bn to investor Thoma Bravo - it has also made ten of its own acquisitions.
