Wavemaker Names CEO for Asia Pacific

WPP's consumer data specialist Wavemaker has appointed Sindhuja Rai as Chief Executive Officer in Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. She takes up the role in September, when she will also join the Wavemaker Global Executive team and the GroupM APAC Leadership team.

Wavemaker, which was set up in 2016 by WPP media agency MEC, supports clients' consumer decision-making and experience activity through media, content and technology. Its consumer data and insights work focuses on understanding where and how marketing can help brands win more sales.

Rai will join after nearly thirteen years at multinational food and beverage company Mondelez International, where she currently leads Global Media Investment & AMEA Consumer Experience. Earlier she was Partner, Invention at MindShare; Head of Strategy for South Asia at Havas; General Manager & Head, Bangalore at Starcom MediaVest Group; and Business Director, Lintas Media Group at IPG Mediabrands.

In her new role, Rai will replace Gordon Domlija, who held the position for five years and has now co-founded a marketing consultancy called ElucidateX. Rai will report to Global CEO Toby Jenner, who comments: 'Sindhuja knows our business well from our relationship with Mondelez, and her regional leadership and global sensitivity make her ideally positioned to take Wavemaker to the next level.
