Data Platform Bigeye Buys Data Advantage Group
In the US, data observability platform Bigeye has acquired Data Advantage Group, which delivers enterprise metadata management and data governance solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Data Advantage Group, which was founded in 1999 by former Experian SVP Geoffrey Arone, has built a metadata collection and data lineage platform called MetaCenter. With this platform, business and technology teams can catalog and classify an organization's information assets, ask questions about their data assets and how data flows through the business, and classify how it should be used.
Bigeye says that the deal will expand its own support for enterprise data sources and tools. The integration of Data Advantage Group's data lineage capabilities will allow Bigeye to automatically map data lineage across transactional databases, ETL platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, and business intelligence tools.
Kyle Kirwan (pictured), Bigeye's CEO and co-founder, comments: 'We've met with hundreds of enterprise data teams. Universally, their pipelines are built on a mix of technologies. That's why we're investing in best-in-class lineage support, so we can truly deliver on the promise of end-to-end observability for these enterprises, regardless of how their data stack is built.'
