Acxiom CEO Steps Down for NfP Role
Marcoms group Interpublic has announced that Chad Engelgau, CEO of its data and marketing services company Acxiom, will leave at the end of this month, after a total of seventeen years with the company, to pursue an opportunity in the non-profit sector. A search for his successor is underway.
Recently-appointed Acxiom COO John Watkins will lead the company in the interim, reporting to Interpublic Chief Exec Philippe Krakowsky.
Acxiom offers a platform for services including data onboarding and the transfer of off-line data online, for purposes of marketing and consumer understanding. New York-based Engelgau became CEO in March 2020, replacing Dennis Self. He joined Acxiom in 2006 and worked as VP, Data & Identity Product and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer, before moving to sister agency IPG Mediabrands as Global Chief Data Strategist & Head of Client Management, and then new division Kinesso, as Global Chief Data Strategist. Earlier in his career he spent nearly a decade at Dell.
Krakowsky says of his departing colleague, 'As CEO, Chad has helped Acxiom retain its place as a thought leader and key advocate on behalf of our clients when it comes to a number of vital industry topics, including the need for a national data privacy law, ethical AI, and transparency on the value exchange people expect when they share their data with brands. We thank him for his leadership and service'.
