Retail Platform Crisp Buys Sales and Supply Data Firms
In Minneapolis, MN, open data retail platform Crisp has bought two other locally-headquartered firms, SetSight and Lumidata. Both the acquired companies work with retail agencies, brokers and brands to provide sales and supply chain data to CPGs selling through Target, Best Buy and other major chains.
Crisp uses real-time POS and inventory data from more than 40 retailers and distributors to give CPG clients actionable insights and analytics at the store level, via a combination of BI tools, cloud platforms and interactive dashboards. The firm says its mission is to reduce waste (including food waste) across the supply chain while giving brands and retailers the daily data and insights they need to grow their business. Clients can identify out of stock and overstock situations quickly, allocate inventory where it's needed, and focus marketing campaigns based on current numbers.
Between them SetSight and Lumidata boast more than 2,500 customers, and their software adds in-depth retail and market insights and analytics capabilities to the Crisp platform, helping CPG clients optimise supply chain management and business growth. The latest deals build on Crisp's recent acquisition of Bentonville-based Atlas from Advantage Solutions, promising CPG brands 'unprecedented visibility' into their products' performance across thousands of store locations.
Are Traasdahl (pictured), founder and CEO of Crisp comments: 'For CPG brands to effectively use retail data to optimize how they meet consumer demand based on real-time behavioral changes has been challenging to implement at scale. Now it's possible for thousands of brands working with the world's largest retailers to leverage the latest data across the enterprise'.
