Funds for Video Analysis Firm Coactive
San Jose, California-based Coactive Systems has raised $30 million in Series B funding, to expand its business and develop its software analyzing images and videos. The funding values the business at around $200m.
Founded in 2021, the company provides 'an enterprise-grade operating system for visual content' helping with applications ranging from intelligent search to video analytics. The platform taps multimodal AI to pull context 'directly from the pixels and audio in content' with the need for tagging, and help generate value from client firms' massive volumes of unstructured visual content.
The round was co-led by Cherryrock Capital and Emerson Collective, with participation from Greycroft and previous investors Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners and Exceptional Capital.
Coactive says its approach turns the slow, traditional 'tag, load, search' process (TLS) on its head, allowing enterprises to load and index raw images and videos directly and make them searchable (LST) - tags are only necessary for some enterprise specific terminology and domain-specific ideas: as a result users can 'find clips in less than a second, not hours', detect content that violates standards & practices or editorial guidelines, and generate new revenue streams from raw video files.
