YouGov Launches New CategoryView Products
YouGov has launched two new products in its CategoryView range, covering the Automotive sector and the Beer and Hard Seltzer (BHS) market. The products combine brand and audience data with sector-specific information to offer 'comprehensive and up-to-date insights into consumer behavior and market trends'.
Data is collected weekly and delivered in monthly reports, and analysis includes longitudinal data integrated with real-time consumer feedback, offering a holistic view of market trends. Reporting is via a dashboard promising easy cross-tabulation as well as filtering by key metrics and demographics.
The first wave of Automotive CategoryView reports that 30% of Americans are planning to buy or lease an automobile in the next twelve months, of which 37% are most likely to purchase an SUV / Crossover. Price (66%), vehicle performance(57%) and safety (57%) are the most important consideration factors overall. BHS results suggest that some 67% of Americans consume alcohol, with 6% of US drinkers saying their alcohol consumption has increased and 22% decreased in the last 12 months.
The next CategoryView will focus on the Financial Services sector and will be released in the Summer.
The firm last week saw its share price crash after a trading update drastically revising optimistic growth forecasts it made following the EUR 315m acquisition at the turn of the year of GfK's European Consumer Panel Services business. With the acquired units on board revenue is still expected to jump around 26% to the range of £324-327m ($US 409-413m), but is likely to be well short of figures mentioned as 'medium-term' targets in statements in the first quarter. Some income relating to the acquisition is expected to be deferred until the next financial year.
