CRIC Launches Diversity Scholarships

Canadian research body CRIC has launched four new scholarships designed to attract black and indigenous students to the country's research, analytics and insights industry.

CRIC logoCRIC (The Canadian Research Insights Council) promotes standards, ethics and best practices in the sector, promotes and advocates for the industry, and serves as both a source of information and a a forum for collective industry action. Its members include Canada's largest research agencies as well as client organizations, academic institutions and other industry partners.

CRIC says the awards, established by its Diversity & Inclusion Committee, are a response to the Canadian findings of the 2022 GRBN Survey which found that 'black and indigenous people are underrepresented and most likely to consider leaving our industry due to discrimination'. The scholarships cover the fees for the CAIP Exam Prep Seminar and for writing the CAIP Exam (a total value of $1,000). Applicants must identify as Black/African/Afro Caribbean or Indigenous, demonstrate financial need and demonstrate an interest in a career in market research.

Lisa Wright, Chair of the CRIC D&I Committee and VP, Strategy & Business Development at Canadian Viewpoint says the scholarships represent 'an important first step to enhancing representation in our industry' and notes that the Committee is working on further initiatives.

Eligible candidates should complete the application form on the CRIC web site at www.canadianresearchinsightscouncil.ca .
