Acquisition for Transit Data Firm Swiftly
In San Francisco, transit data platform Swiftly has announced the acquisition of passenger data and analytics firm Hopthru, for an undisclosed amount.
Swiftly allows client organisations - including more than 160 transit agencies in ten countries - to share real-time passenger information, manage day-to-day operations, and improve service performance. Seattle, WA-based Hopthru was formed in 2016 and offers journey or 'ridership' data, mostly for regional authorities in the US. Swiftly says the buy will give its clients 'powerful ways to access, clean, monitor, and analyze ridership data for NTD reporting, service planning, scheduling, and more'. This includes viewing the effect that network performance has on riders and vice versa, and integrating this with historical passenger trends.
Cole Calhoun, CEO at Hopthru says combining his firm's insights into demand and travel patterns throughout clients' systems with Swiftly's transit data platform 'offers agencies a unique solution to improve service efficiency and provide a better passenger experience'. Jonny Simkin (pictured), Swiftly's co-founder and CEO adds: 'Swiftly's central focus has always been the transit rider experience - helping agencies better communicate with passengers and run reliable, efficient service. With Hopthru's highly accurate ridership data and powerful analytics suite, we're truly putting the rider at the heart of the Swiftly platform. I'm excited about how our combined platforms can unlock incredible insights about the impact of service on ridership, as well as streamline NTD certification'.
