NIQ Hires Leader for Iberian Consumer Panel Business

Consumer intelligence giant NIQ has appointed Luis Simoes as CPS Strategic Projects and Iberia Lead, based in Barcelona and driving the growth of its Consumer Panel business in Spain and Portugal.

NIQ helps clients to understand consumer buying behavior, and combined with GfK in 2023. The group, previously known as NielsenIQ, says it has ambitious plans for investment in Europe, which include growing the consumer panel in Spain from 8,000 to 12,000 members by 2025. Customers can access the data through the firm's Discover platform, which fully integrates consumer and retailer data.

Simoes brings more than 25 years of industry experience, including work as Global Strategy Director at Kantar Worldpanel, where he helped in the acquisition of Numerator in the US, the integration of advanced technologies, and the launch of new services such as Usage, Out of Home, and Media ROI. His new role also includes development of NIQ's Discover platform and general product offering, and supporting the growth of its local team.

Luis joins a Barcelona recently strengthened by the GfK merger and now headquartered in the Nexus building in Pedralbes, in the city's innovation hub.
