Ghanaian Buy Creates Firm Tracking 21 African Markets
Accra, Ghana-based agency True North Media Monitoring has recently announced the acquisition of Maverick Media Monitoring, also based in the Ghanaian capital, and has appointed Maverick's Akinwale Adams to lead the combined company and oversee the integration.
True North works in West and Central Africa, offering media monitoring, media measurement and analytics, audience tracking, consumer and consumption tracking, and customized reporting. The buy brings it new technology including Maverick's Media Plus, a real-time media monitoring and SaaS platform covering more than 450 television and radio stations, and tracking ad spend in sixteen African markets: Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Guinea Conakry, Congo Brazzaville, Congo DRC, Uganda, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cameroun, and Gambia.
Operating under the True North brand, the combined company will now cover more than 960 channels in 21 African countries, including True North's existing strong presence in the huge market of Nigeria - where more than 400 of the channels are based.
Adams (pictured) who was previously MD of Maverick, brings fifteen years of experience in the sector, originally from MediaTrak Ghana where he was Country Head, and subsequently from leadership roles at Media Monitoring Services in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.
