Funds for Teen Feedback App Cafeteria
New York-based teen feedback app Cafeteria has raised $3m in funding, with which to continue software development and expand its business.
Cafeteria aims to create 'a continuous relationship between teens and enterprises', rewarding teens for talking about the brands of their choice either by text or speech. The firm offers companies teen lifestyle insights - including trends and competitor comparisons, while enabling users to 'shape the brands they love', get paid for their completed responses and 'start building career skills'.
The company was co-founded by CEO Rishi Malhotra (pictured), Chief Design Officer Leeann Sheely and Chief Business Officer Mark Silverstien, all three of whom worked previously at Luminary Podcasts - Malhotra also co-founded music streaming service Saavn. According to TechCrunch the Cafeteria app, which was soft-launched in August, has signed up teens in c.60 US cities and has comments on more than 200 brands.
The funding round was led by Collaborative Fund and Imaginary Ventures with participation from Bertelsmann, and Guy Oseary.
