Ipsos Buys in Canada and US
Ipsos has announced the acquisition of two MR agencies in North America: Descarie & Complices and Shifrin Research Inc, based in Montreal and Manhattan respectively.
Descarie & Complices specialises in advertising and market research, both qual and quant, in Quebec's francophone sector and was founded in 1994 by Francois Descarie - it will operate as Ipsos Descarie. The firm has 25 full-time employees and generated revenues of $3.6 million CDN in 2004. Ipsos is already very strong in Canada via its Ipsos Reid subsidiary and advertising division Ipsos ASI.
Consumer products and services researcher Shifrin was founded in 1983 and has 21 full-time employees, specialising in strategic consultation, MR design, implementation and control and with strong analytics capabilities. It had revenues of $8.6 million USD in 2004. It will be known as Ipsos Shifrin.
