Cineverse Buys CTV Ad Platform IndiCue

US-based entertainment tech company and studio Cineverse Corp is to acquire CTV monetization platform IndiCue, Inc., whose software helps publishers and streaming operators manage, optimize and grow their advertising revenue, while improving user experience.

Cineverse operates the Matchpoint AI-powered platform, which promises to 'prepare, distribute, monetize and continuously improve content across any platform.' The firm distributes films, series and podcasts across theatrical, home entertainment and streaming formats; operates dozens of digital properties; and works with brands to connect them with their key audiences.

The deal is worth $22 million in cash and shares of Cineverse common stock, with additional performance-based consideration of up to $18m. IndiCue's offer includes 'manifest analysis technology', which adapts the ad experience to viewing patterns, and improves UX for viewers. This technology will be integrated into Matchpoint, giving Cineverse a unified system spanning content preparation, distribution, monetisation, reporting, and real-time performance optimisation according to viewer behavior and market demand, across streaming formats including FAST, AVoD and CTV.

Cineverse Chairman and CEO Chris McGurk says the result is 'a near end-to-end technology platform whose high level of automation provides a significant competitive advantage, by dramatically lowering costs while providing higher operational efficiency than any competitor out there.' IndiCue CEO Nicholas Frazee (pictured) joins Cineverse as EVP of Revenue, and his colleagues Yuriy Gorokhov as EVP of Technology and John Marchesini as EVP of Product & Monetisation.

Frazee comments: 'Joining Cineverse allows us to integrate our advanced monetisation capabilities directly into an enterprise-grade platform that powers content distribution at significant scale.'
